Founder, Stuart Welch, had the vision to establish an ethical company with a positive philosophy dedicated to creative, open-minded design and products that would answer the needs of all areas of cultural preservation. Over twenty seven years on, those values still remain the cornerstone of the CXD business.

In 2007 CXD was acquired by Larson Juhl, the UK’s leading supplier of mouldings and mountboard to the art and framing market. This move provided the support, investment and resources needed to help develop the company, improve its customer service and explore some exciting new product opportunities.

Product Range

Our huge range of products are available to you to buy online. For stock items you will be able to see stock levels and lead times live online. At our factories in Milton Keynes, CXD design and manufacture the world’s largest range of acid-free archival storage boxes and a growing range of conservation-grade polyester pockets. Our range of papers and boards includes everything from the finest Japanese and European handmade papers and high quality museum mounting boards to storage and repair papers. To complement the core product range CXD also offer numerous sundry items including adhesives, tapes and small tools.

CXD have been involved in the development of oxygen free storage and display products to eliminate oxygen for many difficult preservation problems. Including the eradication of pests, preservation and drying of flood damaged material, document storage or the storage and display of plastics, rubber and geological specimens that are particularly sensitive to oxidation and damage from UV. In the range we supply vacuum packing machines; transparent barrier pouches; barrier films, oxygen scavengers; oxygen indicating tablets and CXD NoOx oxygen monitoring sensors and equipment

The company also offers an extensive range of specialist conservation equipment suitable for conservation studios and work rooms. Equipment ranges from large mobile, automatic book cleaning machines to the portable Conservac hand held HEPA vacuum cleaner.

Armour Systems, our showcase brand, enables us to offer a market-leading range of high-quality museum display cases and cabinets. In addition, we design and manufacture a wide range of furniture suitable for fitting out conservation studios or offering long term storage, this includes Planorama®, a unique, anodised aluminium drawer storage and display system.  Each Planorama® unit is bespoke and hand built to almost any size or configuration. Showroom

See a selection of products available by arranging an appointment to visit the CXD showroom in Bedford, the showroom features a range of CXD products including Planorama®, some conservation studio equipment, boxes, papers & boards and other items from the Timecare® range.

The showroom is based at our CXD office, 9 Newmarket Court, Kingston, Milton Keynes MK10 0AG and is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. (VIEWINGS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY).
